Shelly Fryer
Learning about Shelly Fryer is inspiring, to say the least.
Shelly Fryer is an educator who works with an organization called Positive Tomorrows, helping homeless children. She runs a 3rd grade classroom in Oklahoma City, incorporating innovative and creative methods in her lessons. Her goal is to communicate value and love to kids who might not hear that message anywhere else. Her goal is to show them dignity and to let them have fun and be kids. She shows her students that they have so much potential. Another teacher with Positive Tomorrows likened their job to trying to teach someone how to read while their car tires have blown out. There's a lot going on in these students' lives and they need teachers who are aware and sensitive to that. Thankfully, Shelly is. |
Her huge heart isn't the only thing that makes Mrs. Fryer stand out. She also is an innovator in the classroom, constantly developing new ways to teach and learn. She's passionate about making school more conducive to learning, like it should be. She blogs, gives speeches and has written books about classroom strategies and relating to kids.
